It was a time before time before time when mortimer were visited by a hero from beyond. you have been warned!!
It all started with a song called 'Ceiling Sweats' back in July 2004. It was a song in E that Rich had been working on and Mortimer turned it into quite a rocky song but Marco started playing an evil riff over the top which triggered Mortimer's evil ways and the 'song' evolved with Matt doing an extended intro over the riff in E.
Ben started speaking nonsense lyrics of the ilk 'In the beginning' etc, this tried to lead into Ceiling Sweats but evil prevailed and it became Heroes.
After a few sessions the other chords were born the particularly evil chord being Bb/A. Marco, Rich and Ben worked on the rising arrangement in Balham and then a short rehearsal led to the recording session in 2006.
The final take is a mish mash of improvised takes. Once the backing track was there Rich and Ben were let loose with all manner of crazy noises and voices. The voices are Rich, Ben and Matt detuned and reversed echoed. Jon entered the fray late on with a demonic solo. It is now time to listen....
