Rich started writing this song as a song about losing someone close to you but he decided it was a bit morose so changed it to something more positive. The chords and melody were inspired by Cuddle Up by The Beach Boys for the verses and the chorus came in flash at Sarah's house.
The first demo was recorded by Rich in March 2005 with the verse, bridge and chorus already written. On the 2nd April Ben got to work and he and Rich arranged the song. The Dm7/G chord into the chorus was added by Ben (a favourite chord that is also used in WCBH). They worked on it some more on the 23rd and added the melody before the chorus and also worked on the middle 8.
Verse and bridge words were all Sarah and Rich (though to add ambiguity Ben replaced the "Lately" in the last vesre with a "Maybe"). Rich and Ben wrote the chorus lyrics but the last line was later vetod by Sarah!
The song turned more rocky as time went on since Matt and Marco had been listening to the Rocky soundtrack! And the middle 8 is extremely crazy. It was debuted at The Hope and Anchor Jan 2006 and recording commenced April 10th 2006.
Old chorus words were: "I'll set you free and be your guide".
