Sweet Jane (Bensi/Hampshire/Kent/Lord)
Sweet Jane, she was working in the garden wondering Hey Tom, would you like to do more than change my wheels Poor Tom, he`s been feeling somewhat downward lately Gets out, he`s taking a new route home tonight Sweet Jane, you've been dealt the wrong hand Won't you play with mine? Don't forget, don't crawl back into all you left behind Slim Jim, propping up the bar he's on his own Looks down, checks his watch maybe time to leave for home Here's Jill, drifting in and out of conversation Drinks up, perhaps you would care to walk me home Tall Ben, looking down on every one of us Flat Jack, he`s catching the same bus every day Once more, what they thought was new becomes familiar Each day they move in decreasing social scenes

Where to begin? This song had been around for what seems like forever, however it's only recently that we revived and recorded it. Originally a Jon song and we knew it was good so have come back to it time and time again. Jon had most of the first verse already and Ben, Rich and Jon then worked on it some more in Montana in 2001 coming up with the rest of the crazy verse lyrics. The chorus was a Marco, Ben & Rich affair and came along much later in Ben's basement (Jon originally had an 8 minute guitar solo but we soon scrapped that)! Rich, Jon & Ben wrote the chorus words in Ireland 2004, (the "dealt the wrong hand" line being inspired by the many games of Top Trumps they had been playing). The intro, outro and middle 8 Ben and Rich came up with much later and then we set about recording it. Matt had his drum beat already and Marco and Jon then set about coming up with their bits. Its a crazy tune by crazy people!
