Take Her Away
(Hampshire, Kent, Lord)
Girl in a dead end job and dead end Hicksville town needs to escape. Will she make it?
Take her away from this town full of people
It's entirely lost it's appeal

All the same places and all the same faces
She's on first name terms with them all

Walking through the door, seen it all before take her away.

Missed opportunities, nothing is new
So she spends all her time on her own

There's no guarantees but it might help
That we're looking to take you away from your
Every day working nine to five in a job that is getting you down, getting you down, it's getting you down

Her face on the evening news, interviews who she knew
She's unware of it all.
We met a lovely girl in Hicksville, USA and she inspired us to write a song about her.

Rich told Ben to write a song just before getting into the shower in another Hicksville motel. By the time he came out the main verse melody and 1st verse lyrics were written.

The boys quickly got to work on finishing the lyrics and writing the bridge. A Rich chorus followed when we returned to England. The other Mortimers then tweaked the arrangement into shape.

Rhodes piano, slide guitar, horn, clarinet, flutes, celesta, shaker, temple blocks, electric & acoustic guitars, Hammond organ, drums and bass, nice. A 3/4 ballad with a 4/4 rocked up chorus. Beautiful really bootiful.
